Three new OEM products from RTX Telecom

BluetoothWorld’s first BluetoothTM headset with battery charging via USB

RTX Telecom has now launched its second generation headset with a USB interface for charging cellular batteries."For many applications, we believe that recharging through the USB interface on any PC or laptop is a highly convenient solution, especially when using the headset for voice applications such as VoIP," says Jørgen Elbæk, Managing Director, RTX Telecom.

"The USB interface on the headset can also function as a Bluetooth USB adapter when the user is browsing the Internet. In other words, the product has two Bluetooth functions in one - it acts as both a headset and a USB adapter. We believe that this is very important for those of our OEM customers who focus on the PC peripheral market segment," he adds.

BluetoothTM LAN and ISDN access point

End-users want easy, mobile access to the Internet and their company networks. RTX Telecom has therefore developed both Bluetooth LAN and Bluetooth ISDN access points that include a USB interface. This makes it possible for end-users to instantly download e-mails, to browse the Internet or to access the company network via their PC or laptop – regardless of whether they are on the road, at the office or in the kitchen at home. These products are based on the Bluetooth 1.1 specification and have data throughput of up to 720 kbps. They connect up anywhere within a range of up to 100 metres.

Low BOM

"Many worldwide companies are currently outsourcing their development work to companies like us because we can provide a secure, rapid development path and a competitive bill of materials on the products. We are very pleased that we now have a Bluetooth ISDN access point for OEMs that focus on the German and north European market. In addition, we believe that our Bluetooth LAN products will be perfect for OEMs targeting the mobile telecommuter segment," says Jørgen Elbæk. "The Bluetooth ISDN and LAN will provide considerable synergy between our other wireless technologies, as we can now develop multimode products, such as a combined 802.11a and Bluetooth access point for OEMs and other customers," he adds.
