The RTX way of thinking smart business

outsoursing R&D“The increasing globalization of business and the drive for 'more with less' has changed the paradigm of 'doing things right.' Along with improving process efficiencies, the thrust is now also on 'doing the right thing', i.e., focusing on core competencies and outsourcing all other non-core activities”. Sathyajit Rao, Industry Analyst, Frost and Sullivan.

Focus on product and brand name

The gold rush in the telecom industry has experienced a tough time, and many large conglomerates have undergone massive restructuring. Products have been halted just prior to production start, so fewer new models have actually reached the market. In addition, fundamental questions about how to conduct business have been raised, and top executives around the world have all come to the conclusion that in order to survive and maintain their companies’ market share, they need to focus on their core competencies, which frequently center around the design of their product and its brand name.

Outsourcing R&D

Many companies have chosen to close their production plants and have outsourced their production. Other companies have entered into joint ventures with competitors.

RTX has provided outsourcing services for many years

This is actually what RTX Telecom has been doing for many years with companies such as Panasonic, Siemens and Ericsson. In addition to a comprehensive technology platform solution, RTX Telecom provides a model for broad cooperation, designed to fit the individual needs of our customers.

RTX offers flexibility: choose the cooperation model that fits your requirements

The majority of our customers either have their own production facilities or rely on external production, so we at RTX Telecom only design and test the product. Some customers also come to us with a full product specification, while others draw on our experience.

Development of OEM products

However, there is a trend towards greater involvement. We design strategic roadmaps in close cooperation with the customer, and deliver a product which is ready to go into production while we have already started work on the next generation. Some customers, however, only want a finished product. In cases such as OEM products, we cover all aspects from the initial design to the end product in its customized packaging.

Minimal demands on customer time and resources

This way of doing business is quite unique, and makes minimal demands on the time and resources of the customer. In return,

customers receive a tested product based on an up-to-date technical platform.

Close cooperation with semiconductor industry

Experience gained from our involvement in customer projects is continuously looped back into the base platform. We are also involved in close collaborative efforts with the semiconductor industry. As a result of the many ongoing projects in this area, we have acquired a degree of technological know-how that very few of our competitors can claim. At present, RTX is involved in approximately 25 such projects.
