RTX Telecom signs its first third-generation cellular contract

 

TD-SCDMARTX Telecom signs a contract for the development of terminal equipment for the Chinese TD-SCDMA standard RTX Telecom has signed its first contract for the development of terminal equipment for the Chinese TD-SCDMA standard.

 

This marks an important milestone for RTX Telecom and is in line with the growing interest being shown in TD-SCDMA technology.

 

RTX Telecom has been working on developing the basic components of TD-SCDMA since 2000, and has accumulated a substantial body of know-how related to this technology.

 

What is TD-SCDMA?

Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access. WWan (Wireless Wide Area Network) standard developed by Siemens and Chinese Academy of Telecommunications Technology for use in China. The standard is approved as one of the 3G standards. TD-SCDMA is based on a combination of the best of the principles involved in the two leading cellular technologies - CDMA and GSM. This makes TD-SCDMA one of the best compromise solutions with respect to low-cost infrastructure and terminals, high voice capacity and high data speed, all of which are very important competitive factors in the Chinese market.
