No compromises on quality at RTX
In order to develop reliable high performance products for our customers, we focus intensively on the testing of products from project start to finish. In the light of this, quality is built into our products to reduce cost and time, and as a result the products we supply are highly stable and without compromises. As part of the quality work, we use several reporting and statistics tools to control development and production.
We have several highly advanced laboratory-chambers for testing e.g.:
• A radio frequency chamber
• We are able to measure from 200Mhz to 18GB
• We are able to measure antenna gain
• Our RF-tests are in same high quality as the type-approval companies
• An acoustic chamber
• Head-and-torso-simulator; Type 1, type 3.2 (low-leak and high-leak) and type 3.3 artificial ears.
• Wind generator
• Diffuse sound field for noise measurements
• HAC probe for magnetic measurement of speaker hearing aid compatibility.
Critical user test - new fingers and new eyes find new defects
Testing is made as a "critical user test", focussing on the functionality of the finished product seen from the user’s viewpoint. The test is made both as a systematic test against the specification and/or the user manual, and as a creative test where the tester tries out everything he can which is not specified in the user manual with regard to the man-machine interface (the keyboard). The philosophy of "new fingers and new eyes find new defects" is also applied through moving people between the projects. In addition to the user test, we also carry out range testing (outdoor and indoor) and environmental tests, if requested. The production test equipment developed and produced by RTX is also subject to testing and verification before it is shipped to our customer.
How to measure the quality level
In most cases our test group is involved in the project from the beginning and attends to the test aspect by drawing up the test specification. Based on this, a number of test scenarios/test cases are worked out in order to ensure as broad as possible test coverage.
All identified defects are reported in a database program, which ensures that all problems are handled, solved and verified before they are disposed of.Trace tools are used for identifying the cause of defects and for making it easier for the development engineers to correct these. One way to measure the quality level of the product is to calculate the ratio between the number of defects identified and the manhours used for identification.
