Labs & Facilities
RTX has access to comprehensive in-house lab facilities that give us a key advantage in terms of test procedures that focuses on efficiency and thoroughness. Our labs are equipped with modern instrumentation that is kept up to date with the latest in standards and requirements for analysis and automated testing.
Projects completed in the lab facilities span many different types, from single-person projects to large-scale challenges involving many engineers. Solutions range from complete designs with industrialization and production support to reference designs with chipset verifications.
Radio Frequency Lab
The radio frequency (RF) lab focuses on development of compact and cost-effective designs, and contains an anechoic chamber to verify antennas and perform emission measurements. Development in the lab is done using AWR Microwave Office and CST Microwave Studio for RF simulation. The design is verified using our modern park of instrumentation, and also using automatic test procedures.
Our engineering expertise include:
- Transceiver designs including system calculations
- Type approval handling (ETSI, FCC, etc)
- Chipset verification
- Design and fine tuning of antennas
RTX believes that a good RF-knowledge is required to obtain a good RF-performance, which is why the PCB layout is handled within the RF-group itself.
Emission engineering and design services on full products and also on separate mechanical parts of a system are conducted in the acoustics lab. The facilities of the acoustics laboratory include equipment for measuring headsets, handsets and hands-free telephones according to world-wide standards and recommendations.

- Gain control, equalization, echo-cancellation, and noise cancellation procedures
Our lab instruments include standardized measurement equipment (ITU-T, ETSI, FCC, TIA/EIA etc.) and automated measurement routines for GSM, Bluetooth, DECT, CAT-iq, ISDN, and PSTN
The equipments at our acoustic chamber include:
- Wind generator
- HAC probe for magnetic measurement
- Head-and-torso-simulator; Type 1, Type 3.3 artificial ears etc.
The Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) lab is a facility for measuring electromagnetic immunity and emission characteristics of our radio products. RTX in-house equipment includes surge/burst generators, electrostatic discharge (ESD) testing tools, and radiation-free test chamber.
The EMC lab services include:
- EMC verification of design to comply with radio directives
- Measure conducted and radiated immunity against RF interference
Fast Prototyping Facility
At the Fast Prototyping Facility RTX has installed equipment, which is able to mount Surface-Mounted Devices (SMD) onto Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). RTX saves valuable time by doing this in-house when constructing working prototypes or setting up a small production line.
Advantages of the Fast Prototyping equipment include:
- Significantly reduces development time
- High speed, high precision placing of SMDs
