2.4GHz Cordless Phone for the American Market

 RTX has designed more than 100 cordless phone projects; several for Giant Wireless Technologies, which is a leading Hong Kong based company with more than 4500 employees.
Giants' goal
RTX has designed a 2.4GHz cordless phone for Giant for the American market. The market is changing from wired to wireless phones, and the penetration of 2.4GHz is now up to 1/5 of the cordless market in the US. The 2.4GHz is rapidly getting its grip on the cordless market over 900Mhz.
The keystone element of the development of the phone was pleasure in use and quality. Besides the physical elements, the customer's goal was a cost-efficient solution for the low-cost American market.
The RTX solution
RTX's experience and a professional project plan were the foundation for this project that had to be ready for production within 6 months. The solution is based on the SiTel chip SC14428/29, and is a 2-line base station and a handset.

- Dot Matrix LCD display, 4 bit parallel controller
- Phone book
- One analogue US line interface with DTMF and pulse dialing
- On Hook and Off Hook Caller Line identification
The products have been lauched with huge success.
