DUALphone 3088 from RTX receives Danish Product Award 2007 in “Products for End Users” category

The very first PC free dualphone on the worldwide market – the DUALphone 3088 from RTX – has now been honoured with the Danish Product Award 2007 from Ingeniøren.

NOERRESUNDBY, Denmark, 23 November, 2007 – RTX was today awarded the prestigious Danish Product Award 2007, which is given to the very best Danish technological innovations and products developed for the worldwide market.

The DUALphone 3088 is a cordless Skype telephone which combines regular landline and Skype telephony using the RTX DECT technology and IP telephony – in this case an embedded Skype application. RTX is one of the few Skype certified manufactures in the world.

RTX was the first company in the world to introduce a DUALphone based on a USB connection, and was again first in the market with the PC free DUALphone 3088.
The DUALphone 3088 is delivered with its own base station, which is connected to a broadband Internet connection, enabling the DUALphone 3088 to use Skype functionality without the PC being turned on.

There are several unique features, one of them being the possibility of creating a Skype account directly via the handset. Others being that the end users always get automatic access to the latest software upgrade through a message in the handset. Just a click, and you get the new software over the Internet. This unique feature makes the phone future-proofed, meaning that everyone who has bought the DUALphone 3088 will get new features every time they are added.

The handset enables you to see when your contacts are online, and if your contact posted an image in their Skype profile then it is shown in the handset display when they call you. Furthermore, you can establish conference calls between landline calls and Skype calls via the handset, you can put a Skype call on hold when you receive a landline call as well. In the handset, you can also see directly how much money you have available on your Skype account.

The DUALphone 3088 base station can serve up to four handsets and allows for three simultaneous Skype calls and one landline call, this combined with the ability to transfer calls between the handsets make the DUALphone 3088 an appealing solution for the SOHO market.

Project Manager, Kenn Meldgaard Rasmussen from RTX says: “RTX has, with this PC free wireless Skype telephone, met the end users’ demand for PC free telephony. The freedom of using Skype without the computer being switched on and the ability to phone worldwide at minimum costs are essential features for both the consumer and business markets”.
