NOERRESUNDBY, January 19 – RTX Telecom A/S enters the European Smart Metering Industry Group (ESMIG) in order to promote the acceptance of wireless communication for Smart Grids on the European Market.
As a fully-fledged member of ESMIG, RTX Telecom A/S will take an active share in bringing the metering technology into the 21st century with a pan-European transition from traditional (manual) utility metering to Smart Metering.Smart Metering entails aspects of providing a two-way information, gateway and communication infrastructure, between the metering systems and relevant parties and their systems. This allows RTX to contribute to the work and partners of ESMIG by bringing a deep knowledge about combining communication technologies used in Home Area Networks (HAN) with technologies used in Wide Area Networks (WAN). Hence, based on its extensive experience, designing and developing complex wireless solutions in various contexts, RTX assumes the role as wireless communications expert in ESMIG’s standardization work for metering and communications.
