RTX Telecom currently works with GSM/GPRS and CDMA as its two two main cellular technologies. RTX Telecom provides customers with three alternative paths for efficient cellular development work - a production-ready handset, customised handset and individually tailored development processes - for these two technologies.

CDMA

RTX Telecom CDMA designs are based on the VIA Telecom CDMA platform (chipset and protocol stack).

GSM/GPRS

RTX Telecom GSM/GPRS designs are based on the Motorola platform (chipset and protocol stack).

1. The production ready handset

2. The customised handset

The RTX Telecom cellular platform features a highly modular structure. Customers that select the customised development approach are able to configure their own product by selecting elements from RTX Telecom’s extensive repertoire of pre-developed features, functions and applications. RTX Telecom will then implement these choices and see them efficiently through all the cycles of development, qualification for type approval and manufacturing.

3. Individually tailored development process

For customers looking for a fully customised cellular enabled product that matches their proprietary specification in every detail, RTX Telecom tailors its solutions to meet each individual customer’s needs. The heart of the product is still RTX. Telecom’s generic cellular platform, but the upper-layer software and the peripheral hardware are fully customised to

accommodate the customer’s particular requirements. RTX Telecom can either work closely with customers to define the needs of the specified market sector, or develop the product on the basis of an existing product specification.
