New OEM VoIP/PSTN Cordless DUALphone launched

RTX has launched a new cordless OEM VoIP/ PSTN Cordless DUALphone offering Internet telephony via a soft phone client such as SkypeTM, MSN etc. and ordinary telephony via PSTN. RTX’s primary product focus is targeting the consumer market where low product cost and ease of use are the key success factors. Our expertise within DECT cordless technology has also resulted in a focus on audio quality. The solution offers a combination of advanced features and the benefits of cordless and wireless mobility.

Free Internet calls worldwide

At first glance this is a conventional, cordless telephone. But on closer examination, there is a remarkable addition – an extra button that enables free Internet calls. Utilising a USB connection to a standard PC with VoIP soft phone client software, the Cordless DUALphone can route calls over the Internet. This is the market’s first cordless Internet telephone that in this particular OEM version works with SkypeTM.

Maximum freedom; minimumtelephone bill

Using the Cordless DUALphone for routing pure Internet calls from one soft phone client to another is free of charge. Internet calls via the soft phone client to ordinary and mobile telephones worldwide are made at local rates whereas international and domestic long distance calls can be made at low rates. Plain old telephone calls using the PSTN line are made at the same rates paid by the user to their existing operator.

Ease of use

RTX has developed this product with usage simplicity in mind, and utilises the latest technology to eliminate complicated installation processes and expensive telephone bills. The Cordless DUALphone is both an Internet telephone and an ordinary telephone in one device. Incoming or outgoing calls may either be received or dialled via the normal telephone line or over the Internet. Futhermore, the Cordless DUALphone offers a highly intuitive user interface with friends lists, address book and many other advanced features. It is even possible to set-up simultaneous telephone calls from one Cordless DUALhandset to PSTN while another Cordless DUALhandset is calling via the soft phone client.

Connect and call

The telephone is cordless and is simply connected to a normal telephone socket and a USB port on a PC. The installation process has been made as easy and simple as possible, just plug and dial. All the customer needs to do is to install the software, and the Cordless DUALphone is ready to make and receive calls using the soft phone client or the ordinary analogue telephone line from anywhere in the house.

Cordless freedom

The Cordless DUALphone enhances cordless freedom. There’s no need to sit in front of the PC anymore to make free calls over the Internet. With the Cordless DUALphone, you can roam within a radius of up to 300 metres from the base station. This means, for example, that calls can be made in the garden, or at a neighbour’s house, thus still providing cordless freedom.

High audio quality

RTX has many years of experience in designing wireless audio products and has launched more than 200 cordless telephone designs with high audio quality for major brand name manufacturers all over the world. The audio bandwidth in this Cordless DUALphone is higher than many other DECT cordless products on the market, ensuring high audio quality.

Optional OEM versions

RTX is working for leading brand name manufacturers all over the world, and is commissioned to take care of the entire development Process, from initial idea to production ramp-up at the customer’s production site. We tailor the solutions to meet each individual customer’s proprietary specification down to the smallest detail, on time and on budget.
